I planned to write this newsletter over the weekend, but other priorities took over, and this fell to the bottom of the list. Such is life — but here I am, staying consistent with my newsletter habit.
My 2025 has been amazing. I’ve been able to enjoy the simple things, and I’m extremely grateful for all the blessings in my life. And for today’s newsletter (which will be short but sweet), I wanted to share 15 things that have made me incredibly happy:
Becoming more distant from Instagram and TikTok: Thank you, Opal and Lizzie, for the recommendation! If you’ve been trying to decrease your screen time, Opal can help. It blocks certain apps throughout the day so you can stay focused and be more productive.
The new dining table in my living room: I love working and eating from a dining table, and in January, my sister and I decided our living room needed an upgrade. I’ve enjoyed writing and working from this table, and I’m hoping to host friends so we can sit around it, play games, and drink wine.
Flowers: If you know me, you know I love flowers and always have them around my house. Lately, I’m really into tulips and orchids.
Seeing the plants on my balcony grow two new leaves: My neighbor didn’t want her Bird of Paradise anymore, and she gifted it to me. A couple of days ago, I noticed the plant was growing two new leaves, and I’m so excited to see Ana Banana (yes, I named the plant) bloom and thrive.
Hosting my first book club: On Saturday, I hosted my first book club with a virtual friend from Argentina. We discussed Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn — a dense but beautifully written book.
Going to the beach on Sunday and seeing the breathtaking colors of the sky.
Taking a clay-making class with my friend Laura while listening to Bad Bunny.
Holding a mini interview with Milo: My sister bought two new microphones, and we had a little interview with Milo — he was very shy.
Playing an old card game: I bought a card game I used to play nonstop in middle school and taught my sister how to play it.
Attending the live event of Giggly Squad and laughing until I had tears in my eyes.
Coffee dates with Juan: We have a competition to see who can drink their coffee the slowest — and yes, he always beats me.
Starting Season 3 of The White Lotus.
Poolside reading: Spending time by the pool, soaking up the sun, and reading on my Kindle (yes, I’m obsessed with my Kindle).
Watching Milo nap: Throughout my workday, Milo always naps in the belly-up position — and seeing him so sleepy melts my heart.
Lighting the candle my dad gave me for Christmas: The smell is amazing, and the dedication always brings a smile to my face (“For: Sylvia, the family flame”).
